How Do I Build My EDU Brand? (User Questions)
Beginner Question: I have an idea for a brand … now what?
Congratulations!, you have an idea for a new podcast, blog, website, or another type of content creating idea. What is the next step? What is the first thing you should do once you have this idea?
My personal advice for anyone in this position is to write down everything you are thinking at that moment. This could be done with pencil and paper or perhaps through a digital application such as Evernote, OneNote or even a Google Doc. The most important thing is that you create a place (like a journal) where you can start to put your ideas together.
The second thing you should do is find someone you trust and begin having conversations about your idea. You should choose someone who you not only have confidence in, but who you know will give you an honest opinion rather it be positive or negative. This might be a spouse or another family member or even a close friend.
After you have flushed out the idea with someone close to you, the next step in the journey should be to seek out someone who might be in a similar field, or even in the same field to talk to them about your ideas and ask advice on their journey. This might help you learn what works and what might not work about your idea.
You can certainly take your idea and go into full production mode and it might give you some type of immediate success and gratification, but the best plans always have the best planning.
- Step 1: Write down everything you can think of and begin to formulate a clear concept of what you are doing and what you want to do
- Step 2: Seek advice from your inner circle to get their brutally honest advice on if you are on the right track.
- Step 3: Seek experts in the field or others in the field you are looking to jump into and ask if they might be able to give you some insights into their journey so you don’t replicate the same mistakes they did.
Newbie Question: How to take and receive advice from a mentor even if it might sting a little?
Have you ever been really excited about something and when you finally found the courage to sit down and share it with someone their reaction wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy?
Did it make you get angry and frustrated, or did you take a moment to listen and learn why they are giving you the advice that they feel is right for the conversation?
Sometimes when we are struck by creative lightning and have taken the time to plan out everything about our new idea we sometimes forget to step back and look at both the micro and macro.
Advanced Question: How do you know your email marketing is working?
Are you in the middle of reevaluating your current email marketing strategies? Do you send out emails and nobody opens them? Or do you send out a ton of emails with nobody returning any love by signing up for your online courses?
Today we discuss:
- What do you do?
- How do you know if “it” is working in your favor or not?
- How do you get help with your Email Marketing goals
